Prenatal Massage at Home in San Diego
Side-lying, fully supported, and zero driving required — comfort that comes to you.
Prenatal massage is bodywork adapted for pregnancy: side-lying positioning, full pillow support, and gentle techniques that ease the back pain, hip ache, and swelling of the second and third trimester. It’s for expecting mothers who want relief without a waiting room — we bring everything to your San Diego home.
Safety first
How we keep prenatal sessions safe
Everything about a prenatal session is different from a standard massage, starting with position. You’ll never be asked to lie flat on your stomach or flat on your back in late pregnancy. Instead, your therapist builds a side-lying nest of pillows and bolsters — belly supported, top knee cradled, head and neck aligned — and some work happens semi-reclined. Pressure stays moderate, certain areas and techniques are avoided entirely per prenatal training standards, and your comfort is checked far more often than in a regular session.
We schedule prenatal massage in the second and third trimester (week 13 onward). And one thing we’ll always be straightforward about: massage is a wellness service, not medical treatment. If your pregnancy is high-risk — or you have any complications, from preeclampsia to placenta concerns — talk with your physician or midwife before booking. When your provider has given any specific guidance, tell your therapist and it will be followed exactly.
Where it helps
The discomforts we work with most
Low back & hip ache
The posture shift of a growing belly loads the low back and hips all day. Side-lying work reaches these areas safely and directly.
Swollen feet & ankles
Gentle, light strokes support circulation in tired legs — conservative by design, and genuinely soothing.
Neck, shoulders & upper back
Changing sleep positions and, later, feeding postures create their own tension pattern up top. It gets real attention, not leftovers.
Restless sleep
An evening session followed by your own bed — no car ride — is the closest thing to a sleep button the third trimester offers.
Sleep is often the first thing clients notice improving — we wrote about the connection in massage therapy and sleep quality.
Why in-home
Home matters more when you’re pregnant
A spa visit in the third trimester means driving, parking, walking, a robe that doesn’t quite fit, and a table across town from your own bathroom. At home, none of that exists. Your bathroom is steps away (a detail every third-trimester client appreciates), the temperature is yours to control, and when the session ends you’re already where you wanted to be: horizontal, at home.
Your therapist arrives about ten minutes early, sets up the table and the full pillow system in any 7×9 ft space, and resets the room before leaving. Partners are welcome to be home during the session — many clients like that, especially for a first massage. If it’s your first time with mobile massage in general, here’s exactly what to expect.
The relationship doesn’t have to end at delivery, either. Many prenatal clients continue with regular sessions after their provider gives the all-clear — the neck, shoulder, and upper-back tension of feeding and carrying a newborn is its own chapter, and by then your therapist already knows your body and your living room.
